As members of SVERAK, we will make certain that all kittens follow the SVERAK rules. All kittens bought from us will meet the following requirements:
| each kitten will be at least 12 weeks old | |
| each kitten's health will be guaranteed by a veterinarian | |
| the registered SVERAK/FIFe pedigree of the kitten will be given to the new owner | |
| each kitten will be id marked with an embedded microchip | |
| each kitten will be fully vaccinated | |
| each kitten will be dewormed | |
| each kitten will be insured against hidden defects for a period of 3 years | |
| each kitten will be used to living with other cats | |
| each kitten will be used to a lot of playing and activity |
Furthermore, we will only sell kittens to owners who will keep them indoors. Taking a walk with the help of a leash or letting a cat enjoy an outdoor area specifically designed for cats (i.e. fenced in with no possibility of escape) is allowed. Letting a cat roam freely outdoors at any time of night or day is strongly persecuted by us. We believe that a cat’s life is of equal worth to any other pet’s life. A cat owner should therefore be responsible for his/her cat, including but not exclusively: the cat’s safety, proper nourishment, a safe home and good health.
The newborn kittens will be growing up in our apartment, in the company of both humans and several other cats. They will grow up in our family until it is time for them to move away to their new family.
Kittens who have an non-accepted coat pattern (classic tabby or solid colored, see ‘About Ocicats’ for more information) will not be allowed to be bought for breeding purposes.
The Buying Process
The following describes how things usually happen once you’ve decided that you are interested in buying a kitten.
The first step is to contact us. You will find our contact information on our main page and on the ’About S*LättaTassar’ page.
Once we’ve had an initial conversation, we would like to meet you! We will never sell a cat based only on email or phone contact (except in specific cases such as an overseas buy).
You will then have to place a deposit in order to reserve your kitten. This deposit money will not be refunded should you later change your mind (unless in an exceptional case: we’re not unreasonable). The deposit is 25% of the price. This is to avoid non-serious people from reserving kittens and covers part of the costs of us keeping a kitten longer while waiting for a new buyer. When the money is exchanged, both parties will sign a contract for reserving a kitten.
When the kitten is old enough for you to bring him/her home, we will both sign a previously agreed upon contract for the transferring of ownership. The rest of the payment will be made and you will receive a free ’kitten starter kit’ from us (courtesy of Royal Canin). And best of all, you will get to take your very own little ocicat home with you!
If you’re interested in eventually buying a kitten but none are available, feel free to contact us and let us know! We might know of some other breeder who has available kittens or we can keep you in mind for the next litter.
